Rebecca Owens ~ body & soul Therapies
@Charis Counseling Center

“KNOW THYSELF” is the centerpiece of my work with clients. I am privileged to work with adults of all ages who want to explore themselves as well as the issue(s) bringing them to counseling. Are you ready to make lasting changes? Let my 20 years of psychotherapy experience help you to see what has been obscured from your vision. If you’re living life through an old, scratchy lens, try new glasses–by replacing old patterns with more relevant ones,  you and your life will transform. Therapy can be a wonderful experience. It can provide so much relief, reassurance, and growth.

I practice from a whole health perspective–mental, physical, social, emotional, creative, intellectual, and spiritual. I do not feel we can separate aspects of ourselves and be healthy. Together, we’ll explore your whole self and your issues with radical honesty and open mindedness, always striving for maximum self-awareness.

body-soul-therapiesAs an integrative therapist, I employ more than one school of thought in my work with clients. Depending on the individual and presenting issue(s), some of these include:  EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of past and current disturbing life experiences.  Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference”; cognitive behavioral therapy, where a client and therapist work to identify and change thoughts and behaviors that contribute to the undesirable symptoms; and psychodynamic therapy, an insight-oriented therapy that explores patterns of behavior and defense mechanisms that keep clients stuck in dysfunctional behaviors. I am often asked to employ Mindfulness approaches with clients, and can do so if that is something you are interested in exploring.
